Riccardo, born in 1992 in Camposampiero, Italy, lived in Piombino Dese for 24 years before relocating to Alicante, Spain, in 2016, where he now resides. His father, Francesco, his mother, Rosanna, and his brother, Stefano, are the key pillars supporting his personal and creative development.
Riccardo began his design career in 2011 after studying Communication Science. In the early stages, he held diverse roles and engaged in various facets of the industry, ranging from Graphic Design to Web Design. Working for different studios and projects, both in-person and remotely, provided him with a versatile background in the design industry. This adaptability has been instrumental in shaping his approach to design.
in 2016, he shifted his focus to creating user interfaces for desktop and mobile apps. He excelled in enhancing user experiences by developing prototypes and maintaining strong communication with developers. He actively participated in projects that involved releasing a new version every week, incorporating smaller improvements and enhancements. He gained valuable experience working on large products and scaling businesses, collaborating with diverse members of large teams of designers and developers.
He became a Design Judge at CSS Design Awards, a position he held for 5 years. He earned awards from Awwwards, CSS Design Awards, and FWA. In 2018, he also served as a Design Judge at Digital Design Days in Milan.
In early 2017, Riccardo stumbled upon Figma. Almost by chance, he started using it and was impressed by its collaborative features. Over time, Figma has become a go-to design tool worldwide, and Riccardo has become an expert in all its aspects. He stays in the loop by actively testing new features in monthly beta releases.
In 2018, he expanded his skills as a Product Designer by embracing and extensively using Design Systems, a key part of his design approach. Known for his proficiency in Design Systems, he excels in both theory and practice, effectively implementing and improving these systems. This allows him to manage projects of any scale smoothly, maintaining consistency and user-friendliness across the organization through thorough documentation and regular Design System updates. Furthermore, he communicates effectively with developers, drawing on his past experience as a developer.
Riccardo has contributed to some cool projects like Craft DS, Notion Dive, Goosebumps, ShoreTrade, Safety Culture, Laminar Capital, Asisa, and Santander, spanning across countries such as Italy, Australia, Canada, and Spain. Each project has brought a unique flavor to his professional journey.
Among his standout projects, ShoreTrade holds a special place. Collaborating with Vool Studio, an Australian Studio led by Lorenzo Bocchi, Riccardo dedicated 2 years and 6 months to this extensive product design endeavor, marking it as his longest project in the field.
In 2023, he reintroduced website development to his skill set, using platforms such as Webflow and Framer. These tools, fully integrated with Figma, have streamlined his design process, resolving challenges encountered in the past while juggling both design and code.
Today, he is a Senior Product Designer with more than 10 years of experience, an expert in Design Systems with 5 years of experience, and possesses additional skills in NoCode website development.
